There is no limit to the number of times I can watch Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel. (Also really like Isle of Dogs.) But for me, Moonrise Kingdom is tops. I love the kids, the music, and the way it makes me nostalgic for the summers of my youth.

I like your “blue photo” too!

Do you have a favorite mechanical pencil? I don’t see one in your favorites link.

I don’t use ‘em!

Oh, my mistake. It looked like one in photo, coupled with quote about a “book & a pencil,” I thought that’s what you had in your mouth. 😉

ah, gotcha! mechanical pencils make me think of being a kid and we used to click the pen until almost all the lead came out and then we'd depress it one more time and pretend like it was a syringe and press it into our arms like we were giving ourselves a shot (I wonder if kids still do this? I bet they do)

I love the picture they used of you! Thanks for reminding me of Harold and Maude! I’m rewatching that movie this weekend!

Another key element of Wes Anderson's DNA is the French filmmaker Jacques Tati, who made these pastel colored slapstick comedies that were framed and blocked with geometric precision. You'll never see silliness this rigorously made, except for the work of our dear, sweet Wes.

Thanks for the tip on Beat Club! I also like to watch old Top of the Pops performances. Two of my favorites are David Bowie performing Starman (https://youtu.be/oOKWF3IHu0I) and Alice Cooper doing School's Out (https://youtu.be/VBEcLxnXVAc), both from 1972. My husband remembers seeing that Bowie performance and being totally blown away by it - nothing like it had been seen before. Like many others he was inspired to pick up a guitar around that time and later started a band. I live vicariously through his stories!

Happy Friday!

Oooh - LIVE! That was good. Another 1983 gem: https://youtu.be/_2s9ke-pKWw

And one last one! https://youtu.be/3SpW43ABzTM

I'd much rather watch old music videos that work, but alas, work I must.
