Really loved your reading the Groundhog Day chapter. Thanks for the refresher and happy belated Groundhog Day to you, too. Seems like Austin has not become a purgatory for you, at least you got that out of the way with your first link in today's newsletter. May you have enough work to do and lots of fun on your spiral.
Blown away by that Sleng Teng article. I don't want to give anything away but I was completely surprised by the creator's influences! It seems to me to that it ties in nicely with some of the recurring themes of your work, Austin.
Also on the reggae tip, the Criterion Channel just made a really great collection of reggae films and documentaries available this week. Most are new to me, going to be spending a lot of time here this month.
And a side note to that—the extras for The Harder They Come aren't in that collection, you have to go to the "Criterion Editions" of the site or app or directly to the film itself.
I should check that out—that’s a lovely time slot for a reggae (& etc.) show! :D My go-to reggae show would be Jeff Sarge on WFMU Sunday mornings (been doing it for 30+ years!) but that conflicts with a similarly long-tenured big band show on our local community sponsored, free-form(ish) radio station. Absolutely perfect way to spend a Sunday morning and one of those things you want to appreciate while it’s here, y’know?
I think it's possible to come to love Austin. Not sure about Houston. I lived there for 15 years, and I did not come to love it. I came to hate it. You can find beauty there, of course, and I photographed Houston a lot for that reason. But in the end it was unbearable and I left.
Oh the mandalorian and boba fett are sooo fantastic.
what did Meg make from snacking cakes? I just made the whole grain strawberry cake - so delicious.

Oh NICE!! I listen to a show called “Jamaican gold” here in Austin pretty much every Sunday at noon

I have fun when I visit! I love the art and the food and the diversity. Saw Bobby Womack at the Arena there before he died. THAT was a good trip.
