Eminem's visual notes are so compelling! So interested that you note them as evidence of his visual-thinker-ness, because I make notes in a similarly sprawling and visual way, but I have a very fuzzy mind's eye. I have to get it on the page because I can't see it anywhere else!
Holy crap! I don't want to pitch myself against David Milch, because I'll never win, but I'm reeling from this discovery that his memoir of 2022 is called "Life's Work"... the same name I used for my visual memoir of 2022 about my mother's Lewy Body dementia and my difficult relationship with her. Damn! (I'll have to read it of course).
Deadwood has been on my” someday I’ll watch this” list for years. Coincidentally, the beloved and I started watching it this week. We're blown away. The writing makes my scalp tingle, it’s that good. Might have to dig up Milch's book. I’m sure it’s full of gold. (Couldn’t help myself.)
I apologize, it says upgrade to paid.

.... and often it is the amplitude that really matters!

Good point. Mind maps are evidence of visual thinking on the page... not necessarily done by people who can make mental images!

re: "Every writing book is good" - it's been years since I've read it but I remember enjoying "The Forest for the Trees" by Betsy Lerner
Austin, please don’t ever give up your day job, this blog. We need you, because you continue to prove it over and over. Than you.

Thank you for February’mixtape’! I am entranced. 😍
Elmore Leonard’s 10 rules of writing is another short and helpful read.
