Yes to John Waters. That quote is going in my quote book.

Love those Ultra-Lounge comps, thanks for the nudge to revisit them! There’s a Christmas Cocktails series of them too that you might want to check out next holiday season.

Unrelated, I saw this article in BELT Magazine that you might appreciate—it’s about a Iggy Pop collaborator and his exchange with Iggy about the “ROCKIN’ vs. eatin’ conflict” (Iggy’s term!)

(fyi, there is an unfortunate typo in the article where Iggy first mentions “ROCKIN’ vs. eatin’” but read it that way and you’ll be good.)

The open mode and closed mode reminds me of Dani Shapiro’s description of the writing life as seasons in the cave and seasons out of the cave. Your newsletter always gives my brain something good to chew on.

I am learning to read every part of your posts. No more skim and skip some. I will definitely watch Flow this weekend. White Lotus too is on Prime, I don't have Hulu but found "Summer of Soul" on Prime which includes a segment of Sly and the Family Stone. I loved and danced to the group, don't know much about Sly but am about to. I've put all the books on my Amazon list, but will also look for at the public library. Speaking of libraries, I looked up Lynda Barry Books, they had several but ALL (the newer ones) were already checked out with a waiting list. You and she must have a lot of fans in my city of 1 million people and an excellent library system with many branches, online offerings, and mobile libraries), Also books on watercolor had a lot that were checked out with a waiting list. hmm. Must be a strong desire toward creativity out there. My sister will love the Red Sauce play list. and Scenius is Genius. Thank you!

I immediately dropped everything else I planned to do this morning to make copies of your excellent zine. They're for my business book club, which meets next week. We've been meeting monthly for 16 years. We've read all your books 😊.

I feel like the uncertainty we are currently living in is not really fueling my creativity because I’m to stressed.

Love your idea of mixtapes for cooking! The one you made for Meghan and meatballs reminds me of Stanley Tucci’s excellent movie, The Big Night, which has a lovely soundtrack and is built around Louis Prima, if I remember correctly.

Thank you for the John Waters quote—I may have real wealth for the most part.
