Never heard of Francis Bebey but what a talent he was. He talks about playing his single note, bamboo flute in this video and how you're essentially having a conversation with it as you're playing it. It makes listening to his music even more mind blowing. https://youtu.be/c6T6suvnhco?feature=shared

I'm delightfully surprised to see all the other fellow Ann Arborites on here! We moved last Aug and love it, so I was jazzed to see your posts about being here, and did not expect to see so many other locals in the chat! 😊
I also popped by the convention at the library and snagged some work from one of my favorite illustrators, Evan Cohen. (http://www.evanmcohen.com/)
Maybe all your pencil nerd followers bought up all the soft leaded suckers on Amazon that fast—but I went to the website. Super inexpensive too. I love the soft graphite for drawing. :)
I went to high school with John Porcellino! Wow, so cool to see this connection. I miss the perfect, Midwestern autumnal days. (Los Angeleno for 25 years now).
Thank you for bringing me a little bit of that pure golden magic, Mr. Autumn Man! October is my favorite month. 🍁🍂🎃
Those are some of my fav Ann Arbor spots too! Glad you got a bit of autumnal vibes - seems a bit late from the west side of Michigan here. My neighbor’s maple tree should be shining like a street light through my front window, but it’s just gray and damp instead. Which is also autumn in Michigan, but not the fun part.
Fall in Michigan is one of the more delightful versions of the season. We moved west last year and while I'm appreciating the mountainous autumn here, it just doesn't quite smell right for me.

ok. 1) I didn't know Cornell did owls 2) I didn't know he rode a bicycle. GOLD
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Little Labors one day — it's a favorite of mine and a frequent reread!
Dexter Cider Mill. Love. Miss you, Ann Arbor. I'll visit soon.
I LOVE Everyone Knows Your Mother is a Witch. Just wrote about it yesterday, actually. Hope you enjoy!!

This video is so good! Thanks for sharing
Never knew about iPhones built in white noise!
White noise on the iPhone was a revelation! The rain fits well with video games.
If you like thunderstorms, try listening to a thunderstorm track while listening to music you like.
Also in Kalamazoo!

Dexter! Ann Arbor! Zingerman’s! Many hometown highlights, and I’m delighted to know that you did so much in Ann Arbor. Hope the wedding was a joy!

Liz, I’m on the western side of the state now, too. Kalamazoo, for me. I never imagined places a few hours apart would be so interestingly different.
Photographing hotel room numbers: works for photographing where you parked too.
I work at Ann Arbor District Library! Didn’t make it to the event, though—hope you enjoyed A2 😊
I was hoping to get in the little bookshop but it didn’t open until noon!
