We were just in New Orleans, too!! We just love this city and have plans to go spend one month there in the future. There is no place in the United States like it. Thank you for introducing me to the photographer, Clayton Cubitt. I checked out the link you shared and his photographs, albeit sad, are amazing and captured the horrors of storms like Katrina. (We live in Houston, so we know the threats of hurricanes and the aftermath of hurricanes, categories 1-5.) I am also tuning in, while writing this, to WWOZ 90.7 FM. (We are big supporters of KPFT 90.1 FM in Houston.) And lastly, I have followed Rob Walker for years, due to the introduction from you, and will look into his book, Letters from New Orleans. Oh, oh, and oh, I almost forgot! I am intrigued with this Music Box Village and will research it more for the next time we go back to NOLA. As always, thanks for TEACHING me so much, once again, in your newsletters. I subscribe to several newsletters, but you are always my number one, must read, even if I don't get to it immediately.
Ooo, Les Blank's short films are always enjoyable. Plus, great titles (one being, if memory serves, Garlic is as Good as Ten Mothers) and, back in the day, fun swag. Loved my Gap-Toothed Women t-shirt.
That is an awesome animation! I have a happy smile. :)
Thanks for the playlist, though I’m not a crawfish eater. When I lived in Waterloo, Iowa, the priest I worked for had me order live crawfish from Louisiana so we could have a boil for Mardi Gras.
#10 is my fave. Kinda pairs with Grant Snider’s comic panel for the day, especially the word “acedia,” which means listlessness or apathy.
🥂 to the search
Don't forget Les Blank's film "Garlic Is as Good as Ten Mothers," about the food in NO.

I could not read this without commenting. Your son is very talented. His animation made me smile. I loved it so much.
Well done Jules! Thanks for all New Orleans recommendations. If you have not watched the Treme series -check it out.
