Tony Hart's pastel technique is so simple and cool, thank you for that. But... isn't working in pastels while wearing white pants a little ill-advised?

Thank you very much for the discount! It is literally becoming autumn here in Ararat, Victoria Australia and we have a 12oC temp drop this week. I love to hear of your opposite seasons’ changing.

I loved KPop Hunters, watched with my grown daughter, and 2nd season of One Piece with my grown nephew - This season was very emotional. Learned more about the story. Katy Sagal was great as Doctorine and her cackle was funny.

I’m currently reading THE VARIETIES OF RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE. It’s really fascinating how wellness influencers are sorta like the mind-cure people James writes about.

Thank you for sharing the Tony Hart videos. I loved his programmes when I was a child - I think they were a large part of why I loved art and drawing so much; he was a gentle presence but had such enthusiasm (and talent), and never talked down to children.

I always enjoy your mixtapes but this one is delightful! Thank you especially for Dragging the Line! It’s my fave survival song 🎵❤️

Those Tony Hart videos - omg. The depth he achieves by layering marker and pastel. Just incredible and a wonderful art lesson.

How can I have gotten this far in life without knowing about Tony Hart? Those videos are mesmerizing and absolutely delightful -- thank you, Austin!

#9 if you’d like the Irish equivalent of this or maybe its more like Bob Ross - https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLi7Ig1PrA5x6cCmA9hGo1nXTC5Xahqo-b

#7—thanks for this tip! I’ve downloaded it. One of those can’t-believe-I-haven’t-read-all-of-it books. Read parts for seminary classes.

#4—I haven’t seen any of this year’s Oscar-winning or -nominated movies, either, which is a rarity for me. Watching new movies hasn’t been as big a priority for me in the last six months or more, sadly.

That being said, I’m off to see Project Hail Mary this afternoon! Been waiting for it ever since I read the advanced copy while working at BookPeople here in Austin.

#1—Happy for spring here in Austin, though temps under the 90s would be nice. But finally the blue bonnets and other wildflowers are blooming! Also, my 2nd of 7 grandchildren turns 16 today!

I’m going to try to get the 13-year-old to an imax showing! (He read the book)

LOVE the book! Hope the movie’s fairly true to it. I have an iron-on patch that got as swag I need to put on my laptop sleeve.

Happy Spring!

Regarding movies, I tend to watch many of the Oscar nominees during awards seasons. I get curious about the buzz. I recommend Sinners. When it came out I heard it was a horror movie and thought it wasn’t for me. Then I got curious when I listened to the soundtrack, which had a lot of traditional Irish music on it. A vampire movie? Nah. But when a close friend with similar taste recommended it, I gave in. I now regret I didn’t see it in theaters. I think it’s one of the top 5 movies this decade. It deserved every award it received—including Michael B Jordan’s best actor Oscar.

I often like your recommendations, so maybe this will also be a movie for you too.

I did watch Coogler’s aspect ratio video 😂🤓 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78Ru62uFM0s

Glad to read this about Sinners because I had the same initial reaction as you. Now I’ll give it a watch! Thanks!

I was just about to pre-order and thought, "Wait, did I pre-order already?" Checked my email archives and yes, I pre-ordered. I don't really have pre-order twice kind of money, but I do have pre-order twice kind of eagerness.

Our (Swiss) bookstore now marks books before checkout that you’ve already ordered but haven’t been delivered. I suspect I wasn’t the only one whose returns consisted of books accidentally ordered multiple times 🫣
