That fact that my comment got included in my favorite newsletter that I’ve been reading for like over a decade is the second best thing that happened to me last week - the first being, that inspired walk with my dog. ❤️
Your posts lured me in with Art is Work. Haha as that is a hard fact! Thank you for making me laugh at myself, perfectionism and always the reality of how small but important we are!
I wish I knew that story about Dumas back when a middle school student in the library saw his name on a shelf and called pronounced Dum-Ass. He thought that was so funny in spite of my French lessons.
Via my lackadaisical instagram I learned that I was featured, which is incredibly motivating 💕. Now a subscriber with “Show Your Work!” ordered and on the way. Thank you Lynn for the kind words and of course @Austin Kleon too!
I love using security envelopes in my visual journal and my mixed media artwork. They're such a good source of fodder, and I love finding papers like the envelopes or the brown craft paper from store bags or packing material from everyday life to use.
I am about to check out the Nine Inch Noize videos from Coachella...but the one I cannot stop watching/listening to is "The Intro" by XX. It makes me think of my youthfulness listening to Interpol. The official video's opening is a work of art! https://youtu.be/UvRxaZH7DUY
Since I posted, I have done a naughty (because I should be working) deep dive on the 2026 acts and I saw that Interpol *was* there! I'm not much of a music festival gal, but this 2026 line up was a great mix.
Thank you for the pathway down the security envelope pattern rabbit hole! I've been intrigued by them and started hanging on to them for future art making. I think it's time for an inventory - and I may have gotten one of those Wesco proprietary ones just the other day!
Happy Reading! I love The Count of Monte Cristo. Not to be a bug about history or accuracy (sorry), but Dumas *was* on some level writing about his dad, a real-life general in Napoleon's army and a Black man who lived through some incredible adventures. For all you Dumas lovers out there, this is for you: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/140278/the-black-count-by-tom-reiss/

That Stilgoe book looks awesome, too bad it’s out of print!
Ah! Thanks for turning me onto the NIN. Haven’t heard them in forever & good backdrop to round out the work week.
Amber’s collages are amazing! I had to stretch out the photos to believe the use of security envelopes!

Sorry for fangirling, but I'm so excited about your new book!
no apology necessary — I'm excited that anyone is excited!! 😂

Thanks for the reference to the Black Count! Just ordered it....!
It's great - I hope you love it!
Cool! I didn’t know about this thank you
I’m 3/4 of the way through Monte Cristo - what a ride! I already know that I am going to feel bereft when I get to the end.
