Your Joy Williams quote led me to pull out my book of hers (in ninety-nine stories of God) and there was a Tolstoy entry for story 6 which might resonate with you since you just finished AK: "You know that dream of Tolstoy's where he's in some sort of bed contraption suspended between the abyss below and the abyss above? You know that one? Well, I gave it to him, the Lord said." She always makes me chuckle...and think.:)
I love Raúl The Third! He did a fun online talk for libraries this summer: https://libraryc.org/snoislelibrary/77899. I've read a couple of the Lowriders books, where he did the art entirely with ballpoint pens.
Thanks for introducing us to Cate le Bon-I wonder what her live shows are like? Recordings often can’t capture a musician’s essence. Anyway, also did not know about the genre of “Baroque pop,” but once I read about it I realized it’s been around a while.
Never seen her live — but I know there’s YouTube clips. She’s a producer too so she has a lot to do with her recordings. If you like her and you’ve never heard Cocteau Twins you’re in for a treat
When you're reading from the southern hemisphere (Argentina), reading about most of these seasonal things feel weird. But don't worry, the same happens with pages with fashion, recipes and some other stuff.
Love the cartoon. Made me guffaw.
Thank you for the link to the Rembrandt's dog article!
Kate's interview is definitely one of my favorites you've done! Patti Smith would be amazing for a future interview.

He’s great, unfortunately I didn’t discover him until my kids were a little too old

As a reeling Michigander pulling my hair out over the Tigers, I do not appreciate #3. 😅
Feeling better now? Haha — good luck in the playoffs!
They got their bats out last night!
I love those hat picture books!! I also love Autumn, it’s my favorite season. Thanks for a tiny corner of joy to stray my day!
*start* I don’t know what a stray day would look like but maybe I’ll have one now and find out 😂
I like a stray day, personally. Today’s shaping up to be one
