Austin I’m so glad you mentioned Jack To hear him and Iggy was sooo vindicating I raised my kids on White Stripes…May I just say I feel vindicated by Iggy I have told my family I hear small faces in these songs oh and Jethro Tull indeed Aqualung was the first album I memorized …nice to know the synchronization we can get from music will never die 😎
Love the Jeff Tweedy quote and piece about Matt Berninger writing on baseballs was fascinating. I’ve always wanted to write songs, and I love baseball— maybe I’ll give that a go.
I love spending time in little rooms (not bathrooms 😆). The two smallest rooms in our house are "mine"--one for soft crafts (quilting, embroidery), and my home office (writing). There's just enough space in each for me, my creations/words, and my two cats who like to hang out in them. Virginia Woolf only had one room; I'm grateful for the luxury of two.
I love “you just gotta keep making s#%t up” by Tweedy. Words to live by.
I love that Jeff Tweedy quote to keep making shit up. I need to be kinder to myself and less critical. Thx Austin.

Love the piece about Take On Me. Pursuing this, I listened to a much more recent acoustic version. Beautiful!
“Write in exile, as if you are never going to get home again..."
What a haunting and amazing piece of writing advice.
Sometimes I feel like that anyway - I moved back to my childhood home in 2011 - and I'm still trying to get back "home."
Thanks for continuing to write, Austin. As always, the best part of my morning cup of coffee. ☕️
