The summer heat in HTX definitely has me struggling to fight the funk so thank you for this awesome playlist! Cassettes?! VHS?! Iโm here for it. We gave our daughter a disc man for her 11th bday last week and itโs giving me all the feels. Seriously thinking about buying a record player since our library now has a records room.
As always Austin, deepest thanks for all the treats, tiny & big bits of fun (that mixtape though, oh my!) and I love all things Flaco. That would be the best to see it in Central Park. Appreciate all you share. Trying to stay Wild Insideโฆ
Always one of the best parts of Friday. Discovering there is a forthcoming documentary about Flacco is delightful. I just requested that it come to a theater near me!
Still listen to โchlorineโ from last year - that mixtape is highly addictive & I enjoy every minute of it! ๐ถThanks for a new summer highlight to enjoy!
Thank you for telling me โ I LOVE that mix and was thinking of doing a similar extended mix for next month (Iโm using 94+ minute tapes now so I got more to fill!)
Listening to the mixed tape on YouTube! Flashbacks! To my Disco Dolly daysโoh I have the stories! I miss Discos.
You know I think I have SUMMER seasonal disorder and itโs not just because itโs too damn hot itโs also that relentless sun. Iโm enjoying the misty rain today on the Canadian west coast.
By the wayโฆ because of the artistic bond you have with your boys, I think you might enjoy this animated video. Right Before My Eyes is about a boy, Momo, and his caterpillar friend, Neener. They make a Time Machine out of a cardboard box and journey to imaginary worlds. My husband wrote the song, our band recorded it, and our son created the video (when he was a teen โ heโs 31 now!) I hope you enjoy it! https://youtu.be/SloSGCpRBnw?is=XFnYFco4FTP_EkPm
I traveled from North Carolina to London and brought our weather with me. I'm beginning to think summer on Earth is never easy. I was hoping to get to go to museums, and I did a little, but mostly I've just been aestivating in a flat on the Thames.
Thank you for introducing me to the artist who draws her purchases! Delightful project
Oh, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during that horror v. thriller convo! I've been trying to identify the dividing line for years.

Letโs hear it for funk! And Jaws - our local art theater is showing Jaws this weekend. Perfect timing.
#10 makes my soul ache in a good way, and the mixtape for drives home from work after a stressful day.
Also, Stephen Graham Jones, in his magnificent horror series, The Indian Lake trilogy, debates whether to include Jaws in the slasher genre.

Love this, as always. Especially #3 and #4. Thank you for all you do.

Sounds fantastic โ enjoy!
I think I will add a post it note to my copy: Disagree, Disobey, Disavow. So there, it will be in the book, because really itโs perfect!
Do it!
Your new book is right on time in my life. Thank you for inspiring me to make time to play again!

So good as usual Austin. Your newsletters continue to be so fresh (in the original meaning) even after so many years :-)

Nobody understands what Europe is like in this heat. (I was in Italy during the 2003 heat wave.)
If someone yelled Barracuda near me, I'd break out into
"You gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn it to the wick...." ๐คช๐คฃ
๐ (see what I did there? Ha!)
Youโve got the sauce! And you always nudge me out of any funk.
