Stop #73 on the Austin Studio Tour is my friend Mark Gale. I live across the country from both of you - I met Mark during an art class on Zoom and in the summer of 2022 he and his wife were traveling in Maine and my husband and I met up with them at the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, ME and went out to dinner afterwards. They are absolutely wonderful people and Mark's paintings are fabulous. It's been fun watching his growth as an artist.
“I just go into the studio and play.” I'm still working (get it? WORKING) on achieving the ability to just play when I go to the studio. It's my holy grail. (PS, I hope Mud Alchemy gets a nice boost from your mention of her work!)
More later, but have you made the acquaintance of Dr. Gustavo Barcenas at the Seminary of the Southwest? He teaches in the counseling program there and does play therapy for children (and adults) as part of his work.
I had a lovely first conversation with him via Zoom on Halloween about play. I hadn’t really considered it from a mental health perspective, which was helpful. My approach has been through spirituality.

Having kids around to show you how to play definitely helps. A kid comes to my house once or twice a week to tutor me in playing with art supplies.
The introduction to my new book in two sentences LOL
That article about the drummers was just amazing. I'm constantly amazed and in love with the breadth of your newsletters.

I have not!

I am enchanted by the Blood Book. It reminds me of the Shaker Spirit Drawings we saw last summer in Cleveland, OH.
